So, I recently went out to campus lake for the first time over by Thompson Point, and was very surprised. One of the reasons that I chose SIU over other colleges was the fact that it was not a cornfield...(nothing against farms!). It seemed weird that I never made it over to the lake until spring.
I have never been an extreme nature girl, I was never the hiker in the group, or the one who wanted to go camping all the time... but I am really beginning to like being outdoors, and I love just walking through the woods. Down by the lake, I realized that there is so much to do, for just about anyone. This is one of those places that can really appeal to anyone. If you want to work out, the path around the lake is 2.2 miles, and along the way there are challenges as well. If you want to fish, there are piers that go about ten feet into the water that you can fish off of. You can rent boats, and if you are into animals, you will find so many there. Also, if you are into photography, I suggest you take a trip there, you will get amazing pictures.
Also, if you go at night, the sky is very clear over there. If you walk out on one of the piers (Be Carful) the stars look amazing!
