Description

Southern Illinois University is a campus that has a lot to offer. Much of the events that go on in Carbondale are organized by the University itself, or organized for the students by the city. Being outgoing students of Southern Illinois University ourselves, we have decided to show other students what this campus really has to offer. We are going to attend different social events throughout the semester and blog about them. For example, concerts, speakers, special events, readings, filmings and many more. The idea behind this is to offer a clear explanation of what this campus is all about. Diversity. SIU is committed to providing all the same opportunities for everyone, no matter their race, gender, age…ect. We are going to explore all the different events that Carbondale offers to students and let people know who they are targeting. What class this concert was for, or what gender was this speaker geared more towards. We want to show other students that Carbondale really does have very much to offer to everyone, no matter what music you like, or what hobbies you are interested in. We are going to think outside the box, and attend a variety of things, especially things we would never think to try. Hopefully this can show students that there is something for everyone to do in Carbondale and that trying new things is not always a bad thing. We hope to show students that even if they are into, hip-hop for example, that attending maybe a more punk-rock genre concert is not all that bad. College is a time to try new things, find out who you really are, and that’s what we are hoping to do for people by telling them about our experiences. And hopefully, other people can contribute to this with their own experiences and things that they have attended to show students that SIU and Carbondale is a social place with plenty of things to do!

  1. Sounds like a great idea. It's awesome that you all are not only informing us about the opportunities we have to explore what Carbondale has to offer, but also that you're going to attend them and share the experience.
